[bars] Field Day - Wednesday 6/12 meeting notes

KB1KTR, KC1FYU, W1LUS, K1IR, NF1A, K1VK, W7LSG, N1HTS and myself convened at
the Billerica Cert barracks Wednesday night to further refine plans.

 

- We will use only one of the Lighting Units to support the 6 and 2M antenna

- The second antenna support structure will be the BARS group 35' aluminum
crank up tower

- 80M will be an inverted V at about 70' with a N/S orientation

- 40M will be a dipole at about 50' with a SW orientation using a tree at
one end and a fiberglass pole set that the Billerica CERT team owns.

- This arrangement keeps us within the footprint of the first 2 structures.

- The talk-in station will be provided by the Billerica CERT team using one
of the radios they own

- As such, Jim, N1HTS will provide an all mode 2M radio with amplifier for
the VHF station instead of the talk-in

- Jim, N1HTS has a battery being charged by a solar panel which will be used
to power an HF station for the

   alternate power demonstration.

- People Support will be managed on an Ad Hoc basis as no volunteer stepped
forward for this critical function

     - Local Pizza shops will be the big winner here.

     - Mark, KC1FYU will handle the Saturday Noon lunch run

- KB1KTR volunteered for the Safety Officer role

 

Some last minute actions:

- Set up and test HF #1 - WO1N (50% complete)

- Retrieve HF #2 Radio - KB1KTR/WO1N (DONE)

- Set up and test HF #2 - WO1N

- Group test of tower raising Wednesday at WO1N QTH at 6:30 (note attempting
to get this done 3:00PM Saturday)

- Test rotator setup for VHF antenna - WO1N

- Touch base with Matt to determine progress on Lighting unit adapter mount
- WO1N

- Request message handling support from WA1VAB - W1LUS (DONE)

- Provide a preliminary site layout drawing - KB1KTR/KB1KYS

- Retrieve the 2M beam from N1ALO - N1HTS/K1VK (DONE)

- Sweep the HF Band Pass Filter set with Network Analyzer - WO1N (DONE)

- Order replacement capacitors to repair 40M and 15M BPF - WO1N (DONE)

- Repair 40M and 15M BPF - WO1N

- Take picture of Tower base and share with KB1KTR/W7LSG - WO1N (DONE)

- Design/Build tower base raising plate - WO1N

- Check out A4S - WO1N/Volunteers

 

KB1KTR, W7LSG, N1HTS and WO1N (anyone else welcome) will convene Friday
evening 6/21 to transport some of the larger equipment (tower/A4S) and set
ropes for dipoles into the trees. 

 

The group will convene Saturday morning, 6/22, 8:00 AM, talk in 147.12
Repeater, for set up and prep. Work teams will be assigned on an Ad Hoc
basis. Operating start time is 2:00 PM local.
