Why don’t you describe your HF antenna to us type, (length, height, etc.) or better yet take a picture also.

Subject: [bars] help request for HF
I've hemmed and hawed on this long enough. A long time ago I bought an Icom 736 with the idea of getting on to HF rather than just the UHF world. I like 2m, but I would like to work someone beyond Woburn. Actually, I can hit Londonderry from Reading, but I would like to try for the other Londonderry and Reading.
It's not working. All I hear is static, and occasionally a station with a very loud signal trying to break through the static.
So, I need help.
Likely, the problem is either my antenna or my transceiver, and I need to narrow it down to one or the other. So, I need...
1) Someone who will let me "borrow" their antenna, i.e. let me stop by (suitably masked), attach my rig to their antenna and compare my rig to theirs. Or...
2) Lend me a rig that is known to perform well that I can take up to my shack, attach it to my antenna beside my rig and see how they do.
There is also a 3rd alternative, which is for someone to stop by, look at my antenna and say "you must be nuts to think you could hear anything with that" and help me fix it. This is probably the step after 1 or 2 is done.
Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
