[bars] PL-259 dimensions?

Hi Willie,

Wow. That is scary. This is one reason I only buy the Amphenol nickel plated
brand.

But, also, check to make sure the inner conductor on your COAX is not
extending pass the end of the center barrel. That would tend to hold your
connector out from being able to seat properly.

Subject: [bars] PL-259 dimensions?

Hi All,

I seem to have PL-259 connectors that mate just fine, and others that allow
the male barrel to screw all the way onto the female threads and bottom out
without locking the teeth in place to prevent rotation (and fully clamp the
mating faces together).

The older (Amphenol) ones I have seem to have a maximum threaded length of a
little under 0.35 inches, while some of the newer ones bottom out at almost
0.40 inches.

I found this for the Amphenol spec:
https://www.alliedelec.com/m/d/52da842b5820971500dd79cb57676e78.pdf
but it doesn't really say how long the threads are, other than the panel
receptacles, which are 1/2 inch or more....

Did someone change the spec, or is the usual chinese junk sourced on Amazon
likely to make up specs and ship them out the door?

73,

Willie
