Thank you Jim, for your timely intro to the topic for my November BARS Newsletter article on this very subject!     I had too many edits to make the October publish date, great head start for November.  

 

The past 18 months the US Federal Government has become very interested recognized threat of EMP.  Presidential order on EMP and Power Grids issued 2019, China EMP Thread, issued June 22, 2020, Report from EMP task force, and Home Lane Security initiatives on this subject. 

 

CW Morse Code could play important role providing emergency comms during EMP,  note I say emergency, CW is not a substitute for loss of business comms via fiber optics trunks etc.

I watched a show called Cobra last night on WGBH 44. It 

seems to be the first in the series about how the UK Prime 

Minister and his staff approach the impending problems  

with a massive solar flare that can take out GPS and the 

power grid. The coming highlights show anarchy in the 

streets as folks lose their power for days and weeks. 

 

It may interest you. My DVR is set.
