[bars] 40M Dipole?

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback, started fixing my antenna poles and figuring out where the wires will be tied off to.

This is from the west side of the roof looking east:



(I've moved the weather station to the right-hand pole to use the left-hand one for the center support of the 40M dipole, which will keep the dipole more in-line).

And while I'm anxiously awaiting my parts to arrive (*) I'm trying to figure out how to attach the ends.

I'm thinking of a pole coming up from the side of one of the dormers, but I'm not sure what to make it out of.  PVC would work, but it'd have to be 1" or so to have much structural stability, which would make it pretty visible, which I'm trying to avoid.

I could do a piece of copper pipe, but I'm not sure if it'd interfere with the antenna, as it's a nearby piece of metal, which I probably want to avoid.  On the other hand, it'd be vertical, and several feet away, and insulated, so maybe it's not an issue?

I suppose I could do a wooden dowel?  Are there other options I'm missing?  Could/should I just tie it off to the top of the dormer and not worry about getting it a few more feet away from the roof at the ends?

Andy:  The house is pretty much taller than the nearby trees, (the one you see to the left is my neighbor's), and the coax goes in to the lightning arrester panel just above the shorter roof peak, so trees are more trouble than they are worth, IMHO....
