I don't own any MFJ stuff, but my impression is that their quality level
has not improved by much. That being said, they have a huge product line
of very useful ham radio accessories at prices you can't find elsewhere.
Given that hams are much more capable of fixing defective products than
the typical consumer, I'd say they have a pretty interesting business
model. Almost like semi-Heathkits...
If Kenmore or Frigidaire had the same quality issues, they would have
gone out of business years ago. But like the EverReady bunny, MFJ keeps
on going!
So I'd say read the reviews to find out what usually breaks, and be
prepared to make the repairs yourself. Or pay more and avoid the hassle.
Your choice!
