Hi Bammi,

Thanks for sharing this with the club.  It looks very interesting, and I will definitely participate.  I have a Yaesu FTM 3200D with 65w on 2 meters and a 10 element 2 meter yagi @ 30 feet.  So far, I only used them to join in repeater nets, both the BARS and NARS nets.  This looks like a great way to put them to use and explore 2m simplex beyond just local calls.  As with any contest the advantage in making QSOs is that there are many others trying to do so at the same time.  I also have 6 meter capability with 2 elements on my Hexbeam and 100 watts.

I will share this with the members of Nashua Area Radio Society and hopefully we can encourage a strong New England contingent to participate in the contest.  The more people from our clubs who join in, the easier it will be to make at least some QSOs.  The other participants west of us will see us as desirable targets for QSOs so there should be many people out there for us to call.

Winterheat 2022


Winterheat is a month long amateur radio simplex event.
There has never been anything like it. 
Last year nearly 600 hams made close to 50,000 contacts
using VHF/UHF simplex frequencies. Won't you join us?

Listen to the 290 mile QSO. Jerry, NA9GL and Barry, KD0QWO prove that VHF simplex operators can communicate over long distances. They were able to talk from Ottawa, Illinois to Fredericktown, Missouri, Conditions are looking up for long distance contacts during Winterheat.
