 I remember Fred well.  When I passed my Technician License,  Fred and I chatted on 10 meters.  One would have thought he reached the Falkland Islands !! I was quite thrilled several days later when his QSL arrived in the mail. I reciprocated in kind. His QSL was one of the first I received. I was sad to learn this week of the passing on November 2, 2020 of Fred DeVries Jr., AC1BN, a former BARS member from Billerica.  Acouple of years ago Fred moved to Reno, NV.  I spotted his call in the March 2021 QST on the Silent Keys page.   Fred joined BARS about 5 years ago as a new ham and was very enthusiastic about the hobby.  He brought a lot of cheer to ourmeetings.   Here is a brief excerpt from our BARS meeting minutes captured back in  March 2017:  "Fred, AC1BN, said he reached his 1-yearlicensed DXCC entity goal of 50. He is actually up to 52 now! Fred was also excited about having an Ameritron AL811E linear on theway."
