Hi everyone,
The October edition of the BARS newsletter is now available. Thanks as
always to our wonderful newsletter editor, Marla, for putting this together
and thank you to those who contributed content to the newsletter! If you've
got an article you'd like to share in a future newsletter, send it to Marla
at wa1gsf at comcast.net. Find the newsletter here:

Don't forget that this Wednesday is the monthly membership meeting. The
meeting will start at 7 pm on Zoom. Be on the lookout for an email from
Bruce with the Zoom credentials over the coming days. Our guest speaker
this month will be Alan Hicks, KD1D. Alan will be presenting on fox
hunting.
A couple of reminders - If you haven't already paid your membership dues,
please do so. BARS dues run from January 1-December 31 and help cover a
variety of club costs, including the Zoom meetings. You can renew online at
https://www.w1hh.org/join-or-renew/. If you're not sure if your dues are
current or not, contact Bruce Anderson at w1lus at hotmail.com.
We're also seeking candidates for a variety of club leadership positions.
Without leadership, meetings and other club operations are not possible. If
you'd like to see the club continue to thrive and have some time to
volunteer, please consider putting your name in the running for one of the
following positions (taken from a prior email sent by interim president,
Tom Walsh, K1TW):
*The President and Treasurer roles have the most to do but still require
only a few hours each month. For example, finding speakers has become
extremely easy with zoom and there is a comprehensive list of possible
speakers on the web to choose from. I was able to set up speakers for
October and November with just 4 quick emails. President:- Plan
meetings/programs/speakers- Host Monthly Meeting- Write a President's
message for newsletter - 2-6 hours per monthVice President - Assist
President- Help with speakers and programs as needed- Step in should
President not be available (e.g. host a meeting) - 1-2 hours per
monthSecretary: - Take and publish brief Meeting and Board minutes - 1-2
hours per monthTreasurer: - Maintain Membership List- Collect Dues-
Provide a regular Treasurer's report- Remind members when to renew- 2-4
hours per monthBoard Member: - Attend Board Meetings and vote as
necessary - 1-2 hours per monthWe need nominations to continue club
operation. Mentoring is available to newer hams who wish to serve. Please
contact me now if you are interested in helping out in one of the above
roles. This is very important to the club's future. *
If you are interested and would like to discuss any of these roles further,
you can reach out to Tom, myself, or anyone else on the board. Our contact
info is on the leadership section of w1hh.org.
Hope to see you at Wednesday's meeting!
73,
Kayla
