I was wondering if amyone would be interested in a Singer/Empire Noise and Field Intensity Meter model NF-105. I wired power to it yesterday on a Variac and it needs PS caps (hums) but seems functional at least on receive.
The thing is big and heavy. On the plus side it has the HUGE original manual, cover, and FOUR range plugins. The one installed covers .15-30 MHz. The other three cover up to 1000 mHz! No accessory antennas etc but they are described in the manual.
The main unit removes also. USAF sticker on it as well as ARRL ones!
I could hear stations on the BCB with a short wire and the other (to 30 MHz) ranges received also. WCAP was too loud for it even with the IF gain down. No AGC of course. I did not check the oscillator functions. Headphone output is 600 ohm, low level but I plugged in a small amplified speaker to listen.
That being said I know it is a very specialized piece of gear. But it is built like a tank and I would hate to see it scrapped or parted out. Would someone in the club like to make an offer? The money will go to BARS. I can meet in Chelmsford or possibly deliver some distance. I want to see this enjoyed not just flipped for profit.
Email me direct. Can supply more pics!
