This summer I replaced a venerable 2-element quad with a TX38 (the
WRTC2014 beam). I had it configured for 10/15/20 meters, but it could
also include WARC bands or 6m. I have the quad parts available for sale.
Here's what's included:
-8' aluminum boom. Made of 2" heavy duty tubing with 3" collars welded
to each end. Super duty boom-mast clamp with DXE U-bolts.
-4 (not 2) cast aluminum spiders for 3" boom. I used two of these to
make the 2 element quad, but if you wanted to go bigger you could add
parts to make a 3 or 4 element quad.
-8 fiberglass spreaders. Originally purchased from Max-Gain systems.
Each spreader is made of two sections, telescoped together and secured
by screws. They were painted black but the paint flaked off leaving the
yellow color. Some UV damage where the paint flaked off, but still
structurally sound. Would recommend repainting. One spreader sustained
damage when a snow-loaded tree limb fell on it; about 8" was cut off the
inner end. No matter, the spreaders are about 2' longer than needed for
a 20 meter quad. Various hose clamps to attach spreaders to spiders
included.
Here's what's NOT included:
-element wires, feedpoint hardware, attachment to spreaders. I attached
wires to spreaders with cable ties and covered them with electrical
tape. Sounds jenky but it lasted perfectly for >30 years.
Asking $100 for the lot. Pickup only in Andover, MA.
FREE to a new ham (licensed under 2 years), first time on HF, or under
21 years old licensed ham.
Please reply off-list.
