Hello,
There are some threads from a few years ago on Radioreference.com that
talk about various changes, including increasing the fees to have the
radio serviced and the owner complaining that their tech was spending
too much time chatting with customers on the phone.
I own a WJ-8711A and have several other SDRs (Elad FDM-S2, SDRplay,
etc). I know several hams that have owned TenTec over the years and they
are solid radios. I do hope they recover, but it seems like the current
owners are driving it into the ground.

Doing what all hams do I went shopping, and discovered the only totally solid state transceiver, with true full break-in, designed and made in Tennessee. With the 150 Hz filter, it was $200 cheaper than the TS-900. This is 1978, a light weight radio, would run from 2 - 100 W from 12 v battery. The radio design was and is today outstanding. I had one failure, the 150 Hz CW filter, sent it to Ten Tec service in 2017, replaced 220K resistor bias for filter OPAMP for $100.00. It's now 44 years old and runs perfectly. It's in my go bag for when I need it. The 7300 SDR spectrum is more fun to use. Like many Ten Tec users, I hope, in the future they return.
