His email wasn't hacked.  Somebody set up an account on aol.com that uses the same name as his account (which is on a different provider).

Be careful out there, don't click on links in email, don't visit dodgy webpages, don't leave browser tabs open on FarceBilk, have good passwords that are unique to each service you use, have a password manager like 1Password to help generate random passwords and keep track of them and autofill them in your browser, keep your computer and applications up to date, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah.
