Hello Jason
I agree with Eric. 40 and 20 minute times indicated a large thermal time constant. Nothing in the 735 has that mass. Power supply’s do (sometimes ) have thar mass.
A735 needs about 17 amps at full power. What is your power supply rated for ?

This is typical of phase locked loop (PLL) not locking properly. I bet a Google search will turn up some articles and videos on the topic.

Hello,

I have an Icom IC-735. It was given to me by my grandfathers friend who happened to be the original owner of the radio. I noticed that after about 40 minutes of TX/RX 20m goes “dead”. The meter is 0 and does not move when I TX or just RX. It turns back on after about 20-40 minutes. There is also no background static while on RX.

It is obviously heat sensitive but I am not sure why and what is causing it. Does anyone have the same issue? Can anyone help me with an explanation of what it could possibly be?

Thanks for your help.

73,
Jason
