Hi, everyone, from 70-degree NC!

Some of you may already know this but those of you who don't there's sad news about Brent, W1IA, who used to come to lots of BARS activities some time ago. Many of you also know that he, Stan, N1TT (SK) and I were pretty close and did a lot of things together.

Brent now has ALS and he wants to clear out as much as he can while he can. Brent can no longer walk or talk and is using a text-to-speech application to communicate. He can also still text.

His shack is being cleaned out by a local friend in NH but there may be help needed -- I'm still gauging that. He is looking for homes for much of his equipment. His stuff should be at Deerfield in a few weeks. If you like, you can reach him at w1ia at comcast dot net. If you contact him, please don't get maudlin -- he doesn't want anyone to pity him. His spirits are good but he knows the hand that he has been dealt.

Pat and I will be heading up to both help Brent with any additional items, visit with him and Colleen and visit with friends and relatives whilst we are there.
