[bars] On the air!

Well, saddle my back and call me a horse, I'm on the air! I finally managed
to install and wire up my Diamond antenna on my itty bitty engine committee
Smart ForTwo with a homemade antenna mount using the the tow eyehook
thingie that comes with the car and has a "What in the wide, wide world of
sports is that!?" *ACME (yes, like the cartoon industrial facility)* *8 tpi*
thread.... for which I searched everywhere and couldn't find a bolt, so I
did it the old-school Marine Corps way. Took a piece of steel, blowtorched
it into 90 degree submission and drilled two 5/8" holes on each end.

Ran some RG-8/U coax through one of the firewall grommets, soldered a
connector to the end and we're in bidness! I even made my very first QSO
ever through the Westford repeater, and just when I thought all was lost,
got an answer that said he heard me but missed the call sign. Thrilled to
hear I was coming through 5-nines. :)
