Morse Code (CW, sent via RF) is music to operator ears because it’s rhythmic sound, very distinguishable from Light signals, static noise. 50M encrypted Morse messages were sent during WW1-WW2
A great listening resource to learn CW traffic nets, the operators are excellent, you will learn the format and process for traffic handling at the same time.
CW traffic nets relay messages daily. At 7 pm local time CW local nets meet across America nightly, MARI, Mass and Rhode Island meets on 3.565 MHz operates around 14 wpm, and will QRS to check-ins at their speed.
The local section net is 1RN, operates about 20 wpm sessions are at 7:45 pm and 9:30 pm local on 3.598 MHz
The AREA nets meet at 8:30 pm local time and operate about 20-25 wpm, on 3.52 MHz,
CW has staying power, in my case my first CW DX was in ’53, Hawaii 17W, Crystal controlled, QSO same station on 80 & 40, all RF, no fiber optics, or computer.
Catch the CW bug and have a blast!

Bravo on all the new Morse enthusiasts! Great to hear.
Technicians: if you did not know this, you have CW privileges on 3.5, 7, 21, and 28 MHz. Everybody else: knowing CW basically doubles the amount of band you can play in.

Joanne,
I just started using an app called Morsemania, last week.
I know nothing about CW.
So far, I like it.
It's helping me learn the tones and what letters they represent.
Good luck.

The secret to learning Morse code is to spend 15 to 20 minutes 3 times a day (not 60 minutes once a day!) listening to code practice at a speed slightly higher than the speed where you can copy 100%.
The apps for learning CW are good but also I highly recommend listening to the 5 wpm code practice on W1AW now that you know the letters. Even if you only get 20% of the letters to start, you will discover the letters you have difficulty with and focus on listening for these characters. You will also get used to hearing CW over the air. If you don’t have a receiver you can listen to W1AW on a web SDR over the internet.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
So far I’ve used Morse Mania and have completed the alphabet
and moving onto numbers. I’ve made a list of the other websites,
which I plan on using as well.

Hi Joanne,
Lately I've found a tool from AA9PW useful for practice.
The whole aa9pw.org site is interesting.
But the tool I'm talking about is the "morse code generator"
https://www.aa9pw.com/morsecode/test/
As you can see it will generate a number of things for you to copy.
Works well on my Android phone using Firefox too, not just
the computer.
See if it's what you're looking for.
I'm currently studying cw too.

I’m looking for a website that I have used in the past to help me learn the tones of CW. They would give the sound of the letter, give you time to guess the letter, and then tell you the letter. You had the option to decrease the time they gave you for your guess.
Also, I would like to know the name of any app that people found helpful in becoming proficient at CW. Thanks in advance!
