I would suggest the above radio for newly licensed hams.

This radio is manufactured by the TYT Radio manufacturer and of what I have
heard on some local repeaters they sound better than the Baofeng Radios.

The price if you are not a newly licensed ham in past 6 months is $59.95 +
s/h.  You can also buy accessories to outfit your radio.

PROGRAM at

You must pay your Application Fee and receive your callsign before you can
apply for the Jumpstart Program.  The procedures to order are on the
current announcement for $21.95.

I was notified by email that the current expiration date of 31 March 2023
