I have an IC-706MkIIG has an intermittent problem that I think could be a relay issue and was wondering if anyone knows of someone who does Icom repair in the area?

The April 3, 7:00 PM Billerica Amateur Radio Society meeting will be in person, at the Chelmsford Bible Church, 128 Gorham Street, Chelmsford, and on Zoom. Below is your link to the Zoom portion of the April meeting.

  We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker for this meeting will be Douglas Bruce Millar, K6JEY. He is a retired electrical engineer with over 50 years of experience in the field. He will give a presentation entitled "Test Equipment for Hams, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) Explained." In his presentation, Doug will discuss the different types of test equipment available to hams, emphasizing vector network analyzers. He will explain what VNAs are, how they work, and how they can be used to characterize components and troubleshoot circuits.
   Doug got his novice ticket in 1957. He has always liked VHF and up, and he has EME stations on 2m, 70cm, and 23cm. But Doug doesn't stop there. He also has microwave stations on 10, 24, 47, and 79GHz, and he's well on his way to completing a station for 140GHz. Doug enjoys HF DXing especially boat anchors and HF AM. He usually checks in to the AMI West Coast net on Wednesdays at 8 PM, on 3870KHz.

I was at HRO Today and learned they have tickets for Spring NEARFEST,
Thursday 4/25 and Filriday 4/26.

Admission: $10.00
Parking:       $10.00
Camping:     $30.00
Tent:             $30.00


Mr Mike is sorry we could not have Saturday this time around, scheduling at
Fairgrounds was iffy, however, Deerfield said we could add Thursday.  So Be
it!

I am to understand BARS will be doing a Test Session on Friday, 10am to
Noon.

We must depart by 3pm on Friday Afternoon.

I wonder if you are aware of the reasons for this scheduling.   Do you know the options that they have? Did you think of the problem that begat this solution?

"Pander to retirees" was not the reason.     Not even close.

Now that you have offered that absurd speculation, go find out the reasons, the problems they had to solve and share that here so we know you actually did what you should have done before.  Hopefully you will learn something from this. What was your input last time regarding Near Fest?  Do you remember?

Dear Friends of NEAR-Fest!
          Due to an unfortunate scheduling conflict with the Deerfield Fairgrounds our Spring 2024 hamfest, NEAR-Fest XXXV, the main day of the hamfest will be Friday April 26th 2024 and will end at 3:00 PM.  This time only we will not be there on Saturday.  Our 2024 Fall NEAR-Fest XXXVI scheduled for October 11th and 12th will be the same as always.

          We hope to have some flea market and social activities on Thursday, April 25th.  However, this is still being negotiated at this point in time so nothing is written in stone but here is what we anticipate.

          Advance ticket holders will be admitted first (exact times to be announced) so you might want to buy your tickets EARLY online starting February 1st 2024 on our Web site, www.near-fest.com<http://www.near-fest.com/>, or in March at H R O in Salem NH and Ross Hochstrasser's Clock Shop in Whitman MA (cash only please) and get your favorite spot.  Everyone else will get in one hour later.

          Campers, RVs and overnight stayers will go directly into the Fairgrounds as we will not be using the Fair's campgrounds for Thursday night this time.

          For this event only admission per person is $10.00 whether you buy your ticket online, in advance or at the gate.  Overnight parking and tent passes are $15.00 regardless of whether you plug into an electric outlet or not.   All vehicles that remain at the Fairgrounds overnight (after 9:00 PM) will require an overnight parking pass in addition to an inside parking pass for Friday.  An RV/Camper/Motorhome pass is $30.00. Everyone over 21 will need an admission ticket except unlicensed spouses, active duty military, full-time students (with ID) and other valid pass holders.

          The gates open Friday morning and buying and selling may commence immediately.  We offer our long-standing Porter service; if you buy something big and heavy in the flea market one of our volunteer staff members will be glad to transport it and you to your vehicle at no charge as it has been for many years. As always inside parking for disabled persons is free of charge and they may use a single person 'mobility device' as well.  NEAR-Fest reserves the right to limit the use of golf carts and 'other power driven mobility devices' due to safety concerns and potential liability issues.

Juan,  feel free to start a club of your own, start an outreach effort for young people.  Set up VE sessions yourself.  Create and promote a Ham event that complies with all your views, wants and needs.    Choose people who will join in your efforts, start a club to your own standards.  It's clear who you don't want.  See if there is anyone who wants to join you.    Have you looked at the ARRL outreach efforts? They are successful.  You could help with those.

I realize you will dismiss this advice, but you are doing it all wrong.

Hello all? I apologize for last nights issues with the repeater for the Net. There was an issue with the receiver which inhibited proper operation. I am aware of the issue which is fairly intermittent. I am working on a possible resolution.  

Again my apologies, I know it?s frustrating when an expected operation fails.
