This is a wild story all around.

has some more radio details. It was a 1kW AM tower with a 250W FM
translator.

To say the quiet part out loud, it seems sad that the issue was discovered
by landscapers, not by an influx of calls to the station asking why they
were off the air. (Or perhaps the landscapers were sent to see why it was
off-air?)
