Greetings all,

Today is a great day to get on the radio!  Today starting at 1PM ET is 
the North American QSO Party, SSB edition.  The goal is to... have fun!  
This is a very easy event; the exchange is simply your name and state 
(feel free to use abbreviated phonetics - 'Mike Alpha').  There will be 
plenty of activity on all HF bands and all stations are limited to 100w 
so a mostly even playing field for all.  The event runs until 1AM tomorrow.

If you do choose to participate, please submit your logs to the event 
organizer (instructions in the rules).  This will ensure that the 
stations you contact get their points.

Or, if you are more into VHF, the ARRL Jan. VHF contest is also this 
weekend.  It begins at 2PM and runs until the wee hours on Monday.  The 
bands in use are 6M and UP and all modes are encouraged.  The rules for
