AM radio stations are limited to 5 KHz bandwidth. In my opinion, what limits the audio in most AM radios is the speaker. If you want good audio buy a radio with the largest speaker you can find. Or add a large external speaker.</div>

<b>Subject:</b> [bars] Looking for suggestions for good AM Broadcast Table Top Radio Receiver</font>
<div> </div>
</div>
<div>
<div dir="ltr">Hi All,
<div><br>
</div>
<div>It seems the club has several Shortwave and AM Broadcast Radio Listeners.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>After a fair amount of discussion with the Sat AM Zoom meeting and speaking with my brother who is the one looking to improve his AM radio reception I thought I would ask BARS for comments.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>For AM radio reception my brother seems to want to limit his choice to a</div>
<div>tabletop radio with good AM radio reception, includes FM broadcast radio reception, good audio, and if needed an external tabletop AM loop antenna about a foot in diameter.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Radio receiver in $200 price range.</div>
<div>Loop antenna in $20-30 price range.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>He is excluding radio over the internet and WiFi radio.</div>
<div>Also excluding SDR.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Not presently concerned with SW listening.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I suggested he look at radio manufacturers like:</div>
<div>C. Crane</div>
<div>Sangean</div>
<div>Grundig</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>What about Sony?</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>AM Loop Antennas from:<br>
Kaito</div>
<div>Tecsun</div>
<div>Terk</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Model: AN-200.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I also mentioned radio equipment suppliers like:</div>
<div>Crutchfield (He said he could not find tabletop radios here)</div>
<div>Ham Radio Outlet ( for SW listener receivers )</div>
<div>DX Engineering ( for SW listener receivers ) </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Thanks</div>
