<div dir="auto">Good evening everyone! <br></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">First, I want to thank Juan for offering transportation to the flea market. It was greatly appreciated. I had to work after so I took my own car. While the flea market was small, I enjoyed it and as a young and new ham it was exciting to be able to get a great deal on a shack in a box, power supply and antenna tuner. While I agree that ham radio needs to do a better job of attracting the most gadjet obsessed generation to the hobby, I can say as an active member of the Port City Amateur Radio Club we are trying. We had an 11 year old and his Dad get their license recently (Before me, I might add) and a 14 year old was at wednesdays meeting. We just re-did our website and are building a program to help new hams like myself get set up in the hobby, such as equipment rentals, compiling study resources, and answering technical questions and assisting people with their set ups. We are also hoping to host more youth outreach programs in the future. As hams we all need to work together to keep the hobby alive so there is never a final silent key.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">73,</div><div dir="auto">Ben Thompson</div><div><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sat, Apr 8, 2023 at 5:33 PM Juan Jiménez <<a href="mailto:flybd5@gmail.com">flybd5@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left-width:1px;border-left-style:solid;padding-left:1ex;border-left-color:rgb(204,204,204)"><div dir="ltr">It means the hobby is doing a bad job of attracting new blood.
