Been playing with HF, finding it very easy to hear CW from all over the world particularly on 7 and 14mhz frequencies. But there is a tremendous amount of static in the background, don't know if that is me or something external. I am finding it very difficult to get myself heard and I think I really need an antenna tuner. Still trying to find a Yaesu FC-10 to make it easy to do the tuning, but I may have to break down and buy something else. The FC-800 I bought is for end-fed wire antennas or long whip antennas. I don't think it will work with my HyGain AV-14.

Oh, well, maybe I just picked a less than optimal week to get started with HF. We'll see.
