<div dir="ltr">Thank you to everyone who commented. I ordered the Froggs Toggs rain gear that was recommended as well as a shoulder holster for the radio that will keep it dry. I also ordered some airline bags in case my stomach goes south.<div><br></div><div>Old jarhead aviation joke. On a long flight in a C-130 the pax were green (not having flown in a cargo aircraft like that before) so the crew chief and loadmaster decided perform their initiation with a prank. Loadmaster hides, cracks open a can of Campbell's chunky chicken soup and dumps it inside a barf bag. Then he goes into the cabin looking all weird and pretends he barfs into the bag. The crew chief runs over, smiles and says "Allright! Hot lunch!": and proceeds to chug the Campbell's soup. Right about then all the astonished passengers lunged for their barf bags. 🤣🤣🤣 Us Marine airwingers can be such jerks... lol...<br clear="all"><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div>73,<div>KC1SOZ</div><div>Juan</div></div></div></div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Jul 11, 2023 at 8:21 AM ARTHUR PIZER <<a href="mailto:apizer@comcast.net">apizer@comcast.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><u></u>

I have used an old camera pouch with adjustable strap placed under one arm and over the other shoulder for this purpose. You can clip the Mike to the strap.

I will be on a boat, a SeaRay Cuddy. The sandwich bag is a good idea but I was wondering where to put it of the rain gear has no pockets. I will take both the speaker mic and boom combo. I know nothing of Marine VHF so I'll let the boat owner deal with that. I don't think positive thoughts will keep the rain away this time. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Blackburn Challenge is a blast! You on land or on someone’s boat?
<br>Cover radio w/ a sandwich bag w/ a hole (taped) for the antenna? That should keep it dry.
<br>A weathertight speaker mic or boom mic/earbud can be helpful too if you have one, but it shouldn’t be crazy noisy like Noston Marathon.
<br>If on land an umbrella or canopy should keep you dry, on a boat not so much. Also, on a boat you may also be monitoring/using marine VHF too if equipped.
<br>Might not rain at all though… think positive!

<br>> I volunteered for the Blackburn Challenge race on Saturday. It's only in the mornning on Saturday but it looks like will rain cats, dogs, gerbils and all sort of other household pets. Any recommendations for rain gear that will accomodate my QRZ-1 handheld radio with soaking the heck out of it?
