<div dir="ltr"><div>This is a known trick of the pile-up masters. Calling a little high or low will differentiate your signal from the rest of the callers who simply click on a packet spot. Several things can differentiate you from the rest:<br><ul><li>Frequency - as you learned</li><li>Timing - when you call in the pileup</li><li>Speed - how fast you send</li><li>Length - how many times you send your call</li></ul><div>This list is great for cw. There are variations on this theme for other modes. Often, if you spend a little time listening to the behavior of the DX station, you can make exactly the right choices and get a reply on the first or second attempt.
