Hello Joe,

I like all things CW, and sorry to have been delayed in commenting on your
inquiry, it sounds like you are interested in CW. Yes, RBN CW skimmer,
viewed Telnet can provide much information on selected signals.

A mean speed of 23 wpm is nominal these days, check below 7.060 and down,
from 1300Z - 1400Z and listen to the CWT mini contest. The mean speed here
is around 30 wpm.

25 wpm is the mean maximum comfortable sending speed using a paddle, over
that CW ops use keyboards.

You might like to visit CWOps home page, https://cwops.org/ , a CW support
group, who offers CW tutoring and advise for folks who want to improve their
CW skills.

CW is moving into a realm where technology applies many enhancements to CW
operating.

May your interest grow!

Subject: [bars] Measuring CW Speeds across the Bands

BARS colleagues,

I came across these data on a YouTube video from a ham club in Vienna, VA.
(I have attached the data as a screenshot to this email, so I hope it comes
across through the email list.)

These data show the min, max, mean, and median for CW speeds across the
bands. (I didn't know that such data could be captured by a CW Skimmer on
the RBN.)

I was also a bit surprised by the mean speed, in the mid-20s for all bands.
I would have guessed that 15-20 would be more typical. Perhaps you have your
own data or impressions from your experience.
