[bars] Advice on 2M / 70CM handheld, analog and digital

Hi Folks,

Henry, WA1VAB, brought to my attention the topic of this next BARS meeting.

He also said he is currently using a new Yaesu FT-70DR handheld.

I looked at it and it sounds fine for my purposes.

Henry went a little bit into the cross-band repeat.

I think Henry said Andy programmed it for him.

I would like to get one, maybe shortly after the BARS meeting.

If anyone has thoughts about this radio, or other, please let me know.

I have never owned a handheld.
I do have two Yaesu mobile radios, one old 2M, the other a 10M, 6M, 2M and
70CM dual quad band.

I am assuming a 5 W handheld would get me into the BARS repeater from
southern Lowell, near Chelmsford line.
Please comment on this if you can.
