[bars] Important Letter to BARS members - Please Read

Dear BARS Member,

The Billerica Amateur Radio Society (BARS) has long been a friendly, welcoming amateur radio presence centered around Billerica,
Chelmsford, Lowell and points nearby.  Our history goes back to at least 1978 (ARRL Affiliation) but likely well before.  As I wrote
recently on our history in the newsletter, when the Chelmsford club shut down in the 80s many former Chelmsford members joined BARS.


We are a "get-on-the-air" club focused on helping new hams, monthly member meetings, regular Volunteer Exam (VE) sessions, a great
monthly newsletter,  our Wednesday night net, a weekly breakfast meeting, a website at www.w1hh.org, a member email list, an annual
ARRL Field Day and above all-promoting on-air operating activities.

In order to continue our mission, we must have the engagement of you, our members.  Every November, we elect new leaders for the
coming year.  Ideally, we seek the involvement of new leaders willing to volunteer their time for a year to keep the club vigorous,
innovative, fun, and welcoming to all.

This is your opportunity to volunteer about 2-4 hours a month to support your club.  The duties are light, but you can take pride in
continuing the tradition of a great Massachusetts amateur radio club for another year.  We are seeking the following club officers:

        - President
        - Vice President
        - one more Board Member

We have nominations already for:
        - Secretary, Marla WA1GSF
        - Treasurer, Bruce W1LUS
        - First Board Member, Mike K1TWF

Mike, K1TWF, is also the ARRL Vice President and, on a rotating basis, frequent HamXposition Convention chair.  Thank you, Mike!

Bruce, W1LUS, is our long time Treasurer and VE Team Liaison.  Bruce has handled literally hundreds of VE sessions. Thank you,
Bruce!

Marla, WA1GSF, is our outstanding newsletter editor.  Our BARS newsletter is one of the very best around. Thank you, Marla!

Now it's your turn as a BARS member to step up and keep this proud club vibrant and fun.  We need you to self-nominate yourself as a
candidate for President, Vice President, or Board member and join the existing team.

Don't be afraid to step up. You will have the support of others who have served in these roles before as advisors.  All we ask is
that you have a desire to help others enjoy amateur radio just like yourself.  Please nominate yourself for President, VP, or for a
board position now.  November 3 is the deadline.  Now is your chance to help out!

Again, we're asking for just 2-4 hours of your time each month. Please contact Tom, K1TW, BARS interim President before our November
meeting to offer your help.
