@Geoff –
I see that Bob Glorioso is giving a talk at the Northeast HamXposition on multi-band end fed antennas.
*** Bob has been a ham for 65 years! (That’s not a typo). He has a doctorate in electrical engineering and was VP for research at DEC. None of that matters, I’ve known him for 45 years, worked for him at DEC. He is a super guy. ***
I hope to sit in on that talk as an end fed is one of my contingency plans should my site not work out for a dipole.
Good advice on not mixing design elements. My plan was to purchase a dipole. I had my eye on this one: https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-008288
*** That’s a good choice. Pace off the distance and add enough string so the ends are not touching the branches of your trees etc. ***
Thanks for the suggestions re: grounding / lightning protection. I will definitely be needing more detail when I get to that point in the implementation.
Re: coming to look at the site – do you have time sometime in the next couple of weeks?
*** Yes. My schedule is pretty flexible. Just let me know 1st and 2nd choice about a week ahead. If you buy the black nylon line (Which lasts longer out in the sun) they sell at HRO sufficient lemgth to put up an antenna, I’ll bring my “Arborists tool” which is like a mega sling shot and will put a messenger line up in your tree. I think it’s better than the air cannons some hams favor. More accurate. It’s what tree surgeons use to get their lines up in a tree . For obvious reasons, get it all done before the ground freezes ***
