Just my two cents on this thread - - there seems to be a pretty good “younger adult (at least by ham standards)” contingent in the POTA / SOTA realm also.

Hi Benjamin,
Nice post about activities going on at Port City ARC. As I already mentioned, your Sunday morning net is very good.
I totally agree with your view on the need to work together and keep the ham spirit alive. There are so many good examples of that every day.
As this thread has been focused on where the young hams may be found, I strongly suggest seeking out the activities where are you most likely will find them.
As a start, there is a really great article in the ARRL March 2023 On the Air magazine about Radio orienteering. On the Air is free to all ARRL members and every issue of On the Air strongly focuses on bringing young people and new hams into the hobby. http://www.arrl.org/on-the-air-magazine
In Eastern Massachusetts we have a newly appointed ARRL Section Youth Coordinator, Paul K1YUB. Paul has a long association with the Billerica ARS having served as a former club officer. Today Paul is an Assistant Editor for the AMSAT Journal; is now a contributor to the Journal as well as a member of a team developing a CUBESAT simulator.
The NASA Cubesat program is yet another example of where young folks are strongly engaged in Amateur Radio. Numerous cube sats have and are being built and launched, many with support from high schools and colleges. https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/heo/home/CubeSats_initiative
There is an ARRL Affiliated amateur radio club in Eastern Massachusetts devoted almost entirely to family participation that teaches rocketry, science and math related to amateur radio and has a program on cubesats, balloon launces, and other activities for young folks. They spoke at a BARS meeting a few months ago.
ARRL has the Collegiate Amateur Radio program. http://www.arrl.org/collegiate-amateur-radio
And one more is HamSci which first came to my knowledge with the fantastic propagation study by amateurs during the 2017 Total Solar eclipse. Today HamSci engages amateurs of all ages in scientific studies of propagation and space weather. Check out https://hamsci.org/
It may take a little effort to get involved at first, but the activities are there for young people who are interested. Ham Radio is a hobby for people of all ages.
Best

Good evening everyone!
First, I want to thank Juan for offering transportation to the flea market. It was greatly appreciated. I had to work after so I took my own car. While the flea market was small, I enjoyed it and as a young and new ham it was exciting to be able to get a great deal on a shack in a box, power supply and antenna tuner. While I agree that ham radio needs to do a better job of attracting the most gadjet obsessed generation to the hobby, I can say as an active member of the Port City Amateur Radio Club we are trying. We had an 11 year old and his Dad get their license recently (Before me, I might add) and a 14 year old was at wednesdays meeting. We just re-did our website and are building a program to help new hams like myself get set up in the hobby, such as equipment rentals, compiling study resources, and answering technical questions and assisting people with their set ups. We are also hoping to host more youth outreach programs in the future. As hams we all need to work together to keep the hobby alive so there is never a final silent key.
73,
Ben Thompson
