Juan, I did not know that installation of the AM filter involved removal of that oscillator.
I have a couple FT-840s which I obtained fairly cheaply because they needed repair. I may fix them and resell. Hopefully to BARS members. :)
Note these rigs have a problematic resistor, R8814, which you can read about on the Web. It causes the rig to die or have PLL lock issues. It’s worth replacing with a higher wattage and relocating to the back panel.
Now that you have the 6 kHz filter I hope you’ll explore SWL and broadcast listening outside the ham bands. Broadcasting has dwindled but there are still interesting stations to hear.
