Hi Jason,

I have had some pretty good success with my AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm
f/3.5-5.6G ED VR on my D3200 (same 24.2 MP DX sensor as the D3500), but I
am not a pro photographer and the lens is not as fast as some of Nikon's
other models, but at a reasonable price it does what I need it to do. You
are welcome to borrow it if you would like to see what you think of it and
what results you get. The only difference between mine and the VR II is a
stop that prevents the lens tube from sliding out when you hold the camera
upside down, and a higher price tag.

That AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens sound like it would rock for
what you want to do, with good zoom. Just make sure you get a good return
policy in case you don't like it, like from Amazon. Fast zoom lenses always
have tradeoffs. Like big price tags. LOL!

Make sure also that you have your camera set to save your pics in RAW
format. JPEG will introduce compression artifacts even at the highest
resolution. Also, D3200 and D3500 are consumer quality cameras with
consumer quality sensors. They also have limits. If you want to break
through those limits into the pro stratosphere you have to prepare to give
your bank account a good whack. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
