Dear Geoffrey,
Good evening! I hope this email finds you well. If you are using the stock
rubber duck antenna, I would recommend getting a high gain dual band
antenna, such as the Comet SMA 24. However, even that might not be enough,
as I can hit Westford in Haverhill with an HT but I hit it better with my
Smiley antennas half wave 2m antenna, however I still have to put it in the
sweet spot. In your area the North Reading, Danvers, Toosfield, Wenham, and
Andover repeaters are the ones you are most likely to be good into only
using an HT.
