We used Chuck’s Tree Service to remove a huge silver maple about five years ago.  They’ve got the equipment and did a great job.

It was a bit exciting as we were in the room where the tree fell.  Luckily it appears that the house is still water-tight despite a few shattered skylight panes.  Other than a chimney cap and skylights, we prob. won't be able to assess the roof condition until the tree is removed.  I'll def. keep your tips in mind, thanks!

It is likely that a crane will be required to remove this beastie as any heavy equipment would have to traverse our septic tank/field - no bueno.

Claims rep. will be out on Friday to have a look - will know more after that meeting.  Fingers crossed.

Make sure to take many close-up pics as well, showing lack of mold or rust (or other moisture issues). Check all walls and ceilings in the whole house for small cracks, which may get larger over time. I used Greenleaf for the tree removal (https://www.facebook.com/greenleafstreeservice/), but it looks like Rich sold his tree service business. It may be worth calling him anyway, 978-888-1715. His crew did an amazing job. The cost to get the equipment there was incredibly expensive, which insurance covered, but I took advantage of him being there to take other trees down that were future risks at a great price.

A large oak decided it was a good day to die, breaking off at the base and falling onto our deck and roof.  In addition to significant damage to our deck and skylights the _real_ painful bit was the loss of my 2M yagi, 2M/70cm vertical and my 40M EFHW.  It also ripped the coax cable entry box off the wall and pulling the coax WAY tighter than it should be.  That damage is yet to be assessed.  Needless to say I'll be QRT for awhile.  ;-(
