Hello Marla
>From the FCC:
The FCC charges an application fee<https://www.arrl.org/fcc-application-fee> for certain filings including new licenses, vanity call sign requests, and license renewals. There are no fees for administrative updates, such as a change of name, mailing or email address, modification applications to upgrade an amateur radio licensee’s operator class or to request a sequentially issued call sign.

You can change your name anytime, as Ken described.
can renew only 90 days (or later) before it expires.

So maybe make it a two-step process.

Bruce

Subject: [bars] Navigating the FCC -- renew license and change name

I need to renew my license soon. It expires in February of 2026. At the same time (I hope!), I need to change their records to match my present legal name. Can anybody explain what I need to do to accomplish this?
