There are many possibilities. I too am not familiar with what "LCW" means
in this context. I did notice there are two evening sessions of the
"Louisiana CW Net (LCW)" but their listed frequencies are on 80 not 40.
Perhaps it is a club abbreviation and the caller was seeking other members.
It is not always unusual to hear someone call CQ for an acronym that is not
known widely. Just some possibilities.

Interesting question Joe, it's new to me, a 95% CW op. My only guess is he
is seeking low speed CW QSO, best expressed as CQ QRS. Was he in CW bands?
If so, sending CW to indicate Morse is superfluous, and If he was sending
slow, like less than 10 wpm, he might a newbie. If you hear again, please
update us.

Subject: [bars] Calling CQ
I heard someone on 40m tonight calling "CQ LCW" (using CW) followed by the
call sign. I know what things like "CQ POTA" or "CQ SKCC" are, but not LCW.
Is there a resource somewhere that contains this type of information? (I
tried a couple of contest calendars, but didn't find anything there either.)
Thank you,
Joe, Tewksbury
